The holidays have officially arrived at our house. The tree is up and the house is decorated. We spent most of yesterday getting all this done, so not much cooking happened. I did, however, fill the house with branches from my neighbor’s tree and dried hops and vines from our yard. I wasn’t exactly sure how all that was going to work out and it does take a little longer, but it actually looks pretty sweet. I like bringing in a little bit of nature and the house smells soooo good! So, on to the menu for the week. Lots of cooking coming up, so this week I tried to be a little easy on the labor. I do have a work holiday party/potluck on Wednesday, so I’m making a double version of Tuesday’s potato dish. Am I the only one in the cooking world who really hates potlucks? Not going to them, just coming up with something to bring? I’ve discovered my style of cooking is not very portable. Potlucks must have been invented in the age of the casserole. I’ve made the potato dish I chose before and I know it’ll be easy to carry, I just hope it works the day after it’s made. It’s cooked with puff pastry on top and then you flip it out onto a plate. It’s a beautiful dish, but we’ll see if it’s portable too. I’ll keep you posted….
